About the book
Red Wing, 1973
“I don’t know if this is a good idea, Sal.”
Colette McGiver is a freshman at City Bluffs High School. She has all the typical problems any girl her age has: crushes on boys, playing softball, working part-time at her family’s soda fountain, and trying to balance family and friends. Her friendship with her best friend, Sally, is tested when Sally asks Colette to do something she’s not comfortable with. This starts a series of lies that spin more and more out of control.
Filled with humor, family values, and insights into relationships, It Starts With a Lie takes the reader on a life-changing journey as Colette struggles to remain true to herself.
Colette’s life is getting more interesting, but also more complicated as secrets draw her into risky situations. Readers will identify with Colette’s dilemma when loyalty to friends is tested against family.
Mary Clare Lockman nailed it!
